About Kernelcare
KernelCare applies security patches to the running Linux kernel without a reboot. Your server stays patched against kernel vulnerabilities while your sites and services stay online.
It is aimed at servers where a reboot means downtime for customers, such as shared hosting nodes and production VPS or dedicated servers.
Frequently asked questions
Do I still need to reboot to patch the kernel?
Not for the security fixes KernelCare delivers: they are applied to the kernel while it runs. A reboot is only needed if you decide to move to a different kernel version.
Will it work on my operating system?
KernelCare supports the common server Linux distributions. Check that your distribution and kernel are supported before you buy, or message us with your OS version and we will confirm.
How is the Kernelcare license activated?
Enter your server's IP address at checkout. As soon as payment clears, the license is active on that IP and your dashboard shows the one SSH command that installs it. No license key is needed.
Can I move the license to another server?
Yes. The first IP change is free. Each change after that costs $1.49 USD.
Which billing periods can I choose?
Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-annual, Annual, 2 years, 3 years, Lifetime. Lifetime is a single payment that covers a 10-year term.
Can I get a refund?
No. Licenses are non-refundable once activated, because the license cost is paid out at activation. If you are not sure the product fits your server, ask us before you buy.
